The much anticipated episode was here.
It began with Claire and Frank’s wedding day.
Frank seemed to decide that they could just marry on the spot rather than have a big church wedding or something.
Back in present day:
We seemed to find ourselves directly in the wedding scene and it felt sudden.
Maybe the reason of the time jump was to empathize with how Claire felt in that moment.
Check out their biggest shipper’s face though:
Later Claire was questioning how she let these things happen.
Jamie walked in to witness her despair.
He decided they could use some booze and took the opportunity to compliment Claire to cheer her up I guess.
He did his best to make some connection.
Bu Claire was more interested in alcohol.
She seemed nervous and frustrated. So Jamie told her she didn’t need to be afraid of him and he wouldn’t force her.
That made Claire relax a little and she asked him the real question.
Flashback:
Jamie’s first thoughts were probably:
The captain of the ship:
But when Ned said the consummation had to be immediate and could require people to witness it Jamie was concerned about Claire’s consent.
Dougal said it didn’t matter.
Jamie:
Okay I’m gonna use Murtagh to reflect my own feelings. Humour me.
Later Jamie and Dougal started bickering because Dougal was disrespectful while talking about Claire and then some other stuff which sounded like:
Dougal told him to imagine what Jack Randall would do to Claire if she didn’t get married.
It worked.
Then he told her she had him, his clan and family.
Claire was genuinely touched/turned on.
She started to lean in for a kiss.
It took her like ten seconds.
Then suddenly she asked him about his family.
Jamie laughed, understanding her nerves and cutely asked: “How many generations back?”
This is why we love you Jamie.
Then he got up to talk to her instead of sulking or trying to persuade her.
Claire seemed to truly begin to enjoy herself after some time.
At some point her face was:
We only heard Jamie’s story in parts so it didn’t really make sense.
But this was how Claire felt:
This was lovely to see because it’s not just about an arranged/forced marriage or being attracted to each other.
They genuinely like talking and enjoy each other’s company.
While they were cutely giggling and having a moment these two burst into the room.
They asked Jamie if they’d consummated the marriage and seemed to be interested in watching.
They laughed together and after Claire asked him if they were related, Jamie told her only Rupert was.
Jamie: *Dismissive hand wave* “Distant cousin.” (lol)
Then it was awkward once again.
Jamie looked like he was trying to come up with another story.
But Claire had different ideas:
Just enjoy Sam and Caitriona’s expressions in the following scenes.
He smoothly told her he’d help with her laces.
Then things started to get intense.
They started to smile at each other. (insert squealing gif here)
Some caps speak for themselves.
Look at thee beauty of this scene for instance.
(INTENSE EMOTIONS)
I was going to add “Take my breath away” lyrics but they weren’t necessary because Claire’s face spoke volumes.
Jamie: I’m a virgin not a monk.
Of course he wasn’t as good at what came after.
About thirty seconds later:
Claire asked him if everything was as he expected.
He cutely expressed his observations about farm animals.
Again I’m not recapping these moments because they are expressive enough.
Jamie was encouraged by their light conversation so he asked her if she enjoyed their first time together.
He was visibly upset about Claire’s lack of pleasure.
He said Murtagh and the others told him women didn’t care for sex anyway but he’d hoped they were wrong.
Now he felt really bad for Claire and other women too, I guess.
But Claire had actually enjoyed herself.
Which seemed to be troubling her because of Frank.
Jamie tried to stop her but she was already out the door and the creep committee didn’t waste time.
Jamie told her to get inside while he got downstairs to get some food.
The violinist guy was hilarious.
Rupert being Rupert:
Angus being Angus:
And Murtagh being me:
He’s celebrating because his ship is canon.
But then there’s Dougal.
He told Jamie he deserved thanks because he saved Jamie from bestiality (what a charmer).
And he advised him not to let Claire know he’s excited to get back to her.
Of course Jamie shared all this with his wife.
(I have no idea. I accidentally put the heart over his eye and liked it.)
Then they flirted a bit more. (Again with the caps that speak for themselves)
So we had attraction, cuteness and friendship but we had one final step for the couple.
Claire was having trouble letting Jamie in emotionally because of her conflicted feelings. Jamie was sad.
She apologized.
And was forgiven instantly.
Jamie called her “mo nighean donn” (My brown-haired lass) and had a lot to say about how her hair wasn’t dull at all.
Claire was genuinely touched and she realized her own feelings were a bit more than simple attraction as well.
So she tried to resist them a little more.
Flashback:
Murtagh had persuaded a chatty widow to give him her dead husband’s kilt for the occasion.
Jamie basically said he wanted to be pretty for Claire because he only planned to get married once.
Then he asked Murtagh if he approved of it.
I could hear Murtagh’s thoughts.
Murtagh had a lot of feelings about that.
He compared Jamie’s mother and Claire, saying they both had sweet smiles.
Then Jamie told Claire how he made demands. for the marriage.
The scene with the sassy priest:
When confronted with threat he had his butter knife to protect him
Dougal was ready to kick him but Willie wanted to use this opportunity to show his in-depth knowledge of bible verses.
The rest of the scene went a little bit like this:
It took Dougal’s cunning to get the priest to do their bidding.
Then we had Rupert and Angus looking to get a wedding ring made from a special key.
They need their own show is all I’m saying.
Later, Claire was touched once again.
Then he told her how he got the wedding dress.
The image of Ned in a brothel highly amused Claire.
Claire just picked up the bottle and they laughed because she had a hangover during their wedding.
She told him how she was woken up by her bridesmaid Murtagh.
Then Jamie said he remembered every moment:
*Heartbreakingly beautiful music plays*
“It was as if I stepped outside on a cloudy day and suddenly the sun came out,” were his exact words.
Look at Murtagh.
But Claire was more like:
Then Jamie came up and had the audacity to bow to her and call her madam.
Claire was freaking out.
Jamie’s panic:

After they exchanged their names:
Jamie did his best to encourage her while Dougal didn’t like it.
The wedding had a magical atmosphere and their vows were very intense.
Claire seemed like she was hardly able to breathe. (The corset could actually have more space for her lungs)
But when Jamie kissed her she seemed to respond instinctively.
He told her that’s when he thought maybe she wasn’t so sorry to marry him. (I’m not crying.)
That gave him hope.
Claire battled with herself for the last time.
And she decided to embrace Jamie and their marriage.
Jamie was born ready.
This looks like they’re about to dance ballet.
And this moment begged for it.
Later they wrestled and danced a little more.
This time Claire actually enjoyed herself.
Jamie was surprised.
Claire educated him a little further on the topic.
She went downstairs for some refreshments.
Dougal had just returned from his meeting with Black Jack Randall, who wasn’t happy that Claire was now married and beyond his reach. But they agreed that he wouldn’t come after her.
Then Dougal decided to be a douche.
Because the best time to make such suggestions is when the woman is married to your nephew.
He was sad. But then Rupert showed up.
Claire thanked him for the ring.
Rupert is adorable.
But Dougal didn’t think so.
When he commented on Claire’s appearance Dougal punched him.
Well, Rupe, you kind of deserved it.
Then Dougal was full of regrets.
Back at the honeymoon suite, Jamie gave Claire a wedding gift.
He said they belonged to his mother and he didn’t have much left from her, which mostly meant:
This time Claire couldn’t deny her feelings for Jamie. So their last moment felt a lot more intimate.
The next morning they looked like two happy Hobbits.
When he left the room for breakfast Claire shook her wedding dress, making her other wedding ring fall.
Frank was rolling down the floor.
Claire seemed to have forgotten about it completely until then.
She took the ring and put it on her other finger, which Jamie probably had left empty on purpose, being the considerate guy that he is.
Well, it must be hard to be married to two great dudes at the same time so I’m not here to judge Claire for doing her best to survive in these conditions.
